FAQ

Burybox is an online service for archiving of seldom used files, at an ultralow cost.
Burybox comes in virtual boxes of 4 sizes (XS, S, M and L). Each burybox is constrained by the maximum number of files and total size. For example, you can place a maximum 250 files and a total of 50gb in the M burybox. Once you have uploaded the files into your burybox, pay for the subscription and your burybox will be "buried".
Most cloud storage providers need to ensure that all your files are instantly available and equally accessible, regardless how often you use them. This hugely impacts the overall cost of the service fees. However, most users usually need access to a small number of files only. The majority of files are hardly used. Burybox recognize this need and provides this archival service for those hardly-used files, thus driving the cost down.
Yes, your files are encrypted with industry standard 256-bit Advanced Encryption Standard (AES-256). We maintain 3 copies of each file to ensure 99.9999% durability.
You can purchase as many buryboxes as require each with different sizes. Each burybox will have its own subscription period depending on when you paid for it.
Once a burybox is "buried", it is locked in cold archival and you will not be able update the burybox files. You can only create a new burybox with new files, and let the subscription of the old burybox expire. You may need to retrieve the content of the old burybox before it expires, and retrieval charges will apply.
When a burybox expires, you need to renew the subscription within 48 hours. If not, the burybox will be removed and the files will be deleted from our archive.
Once your burybox is buried, the files in it will not be available readily. To access a file, you need to initiate a retrieval process which takes up to 48 hours. A small charge is required to retrieve a file, based on the file size.
We designed the Burybox service to be as low cost as possible. An open burybox incurs operational costs to us which we do not charge to you. Therefore, we need you to upload your files as soon as you can.
